COMMUNITY OUTREACH UNIT
The UConn Police Department has extensive community educational opportunities through educational programming, internships and practicum experiences, our Citizens’ Police Academy, informational campaigns and publications, and our Safety Techniques and Awareness Resource Team (S.T.A.R.T.).

SAFETY TECHNIQUES AND AWARENESS RESOURCE TEAM (S.T.A.R.T.)
The Safety Techniques and Awareness Resource Team focuses our educational and prevention efforts on programming aimed at reducing sexual, intimate partner, and domestic violence. We offer a variety of programming in women's and men’s self-defense, sexual and relationship violence reduction, bystander awareness, effective interpersonal communication, and more. As with all of our police educational initiatives, our S.T.A.R.T. programming is offered in a safe, cooperative, and compassionate environment.
